Job completed for Steven P. - Mt. Arlington, NJ - Water Damage

Completion date: October 1, 2025

Location: Mt. Arlington, NJ

Solutions provided:

Water damage occurred in the stairwell leading to Steven P.’s unfinished basement in Mt. Arlington, NJ after groundwater intrusion during heavy rain seeped through the foundation wall. The water pooled at the base of the stairway and migrated toward the basement floor, affecting concrete surfaces and exposed framing. PDQ Fire & Water Damage Restoration was called in for immediate containment and water mitigation. In Mt. Arlington, unfinished basement water damage often requires rapid containment barriers to isolate wet areas and prevent the spread of moisture. Technicians installed containment around the stairway to protect unaffected areas and began water extraction and dehumidification. Steven’s homeowner’s insurance covered the water damage mitigation under a flood-related water damage insurance claim in Mt. Arlington.

The Mt. Arlington water damage cleanup included moisture mapping of the stairwell walls, drying exposed studs, and sanitizing the basement area to prevent microbial growth. Containment barriers remained in place during structure drying to control airflow and speed up evaporation in the wet stairwell zone. The concrete floor and lower portions of the wall were treated with an anti-microbial solution, and drying equipment ran continuously for several days. In Mt. Arlington, water damage in unfinished basements poses unique challenges due to porous materials and limited airflow, requiring careful monitoring. Daily moisture checks confirmed that conditions were improving and containment was removed only after dry standards were met. All water damage documentation in Mt. Arlington was provided to Steven’s insurance adjuster for claim validation.
