Job completed for Melissa N. - Fairfield, NJ - Water Damage
Completion date: April 15, 2025
Location: Fairfield, NJ
Solutions provided:
Melissa contacted PDQ Restoration after a pipe burst in the entrance area of her Fairfield, NJ home. The pipe, located behind the wall on the first floor, released a significant amount of water that quickly saturated the carpet, padding, and lower portions of the drywall. With water spreading rapidly through the entryway and creeping into adjacent rooms, Melissa knew the combination of moisture, humidity, and soaked materials needed immediate attention.
Upon arrival at the Fairfield property, our water damage response team began by shutting off the water supply and assessing the full extent of the damage. Using moisture meters and thermal imaging, we tracked how far the water had migrated under the carpet and along the baseboards. The carpet and padding were heavily soaked, requiring removal to prevent mold growth and to expose the subfloor for drying. We also removed a section of wet drywall near the broken pipe to access and repair the source of the leak.
To tackle the high humidity and hidden dampness, we deployed industrial-strength dehumidifiers and air movers throughout the entrance and hallway. These systems rapidly dried the exposed flooring and walls, while continuous monitoring ensured all moisture was thoroughly eliminated. The entrance area, including corners near the coat closet and bathroom doorway, received antimicrobial treatments to sanitize the surfaces and prevent microbial growth caused by lingering water and humidity.
Thanks to PDQ Restoration’s fast, methodical approach, Melissa’s home in Fairfield was fully dried, cleaned, and prepared for reconstruction within a few days. We worked directly with her insurance provider to streamline the claim process for the water damage and carpet replacement. The entryway was left dry, sanitized, and safe—ready for new flooring and a fresh start, free from water and moisture concerns.
