Tom reached out to PDQ Restoration after severe rainfall led to water flooding his garage in Riverdale, NJ. The garage, packed with personal belongings, seasonal decorations, and storage containers, quickly became saturated as stormwater seeped in through the garage door and foundation cracks. With water pooling on the floor and signs of rising humidity, Tom grew concerned about long-term moisture damage, mold growth, and the cleanliness of the affected items.
Our water damage restoration team arrived at the Riverdale home shortly after the call. The garage was still wet, with several inches of standing water covering the floor. Using high-powered pumps and vacuums, we removed the water efficiently, then sorted through the contents to determine what could be salvaged. Many boxes and containers were wet, so we transferred them to a dry staging area, where we dried and cleaned salvageable items. To control the damp air, we set up industrial dehumidifiers and air movers to reduce the excess humidity and eliminate moisture trapped in concrete surfaces and low shelving.
Once the space was cleared and the visible water addressed, we thoroughly cleaned and sanitized all surfaces using antimicrobial solutions to prevent mold and bacterial contamination. Special attention was given to corners, crevices, and areas around stored tools, sports equipment, and utility sinks. The Riverdale garage was monitored over several days to ensure that all moisture and dampness had been fully resolved. The drying equipment remained on-site until consistent moisture readings showed safe, dry conditions.
Thanks to our prompt response and detailed cleanup, Tom’s garage in Riverdale, NJ was fully restored. The space was left clean, sanitized, and free from any residual water, moisture, or humidity. PDQ Restoration also documented the entire water damage restoration process, helping Tom submit his insurance claim with ease. The result: a clean, dry, and organized garage, protected from the effects of storm-related flooding.
