Completion date: April 15, 2025
Location: Kinnelon, NJ
Solutions provided:
Dana reached out to PDQ Restoration after discovering a slow leak under the kitchen sink in her Kinnelon, NJ home. The leak had gone unnoticed for several days, allowing water to seep beneath the cabinet and into the surrounding hardwood floor. She became concerned when the area near the sink began to feel soft and damp underfoot. With growing signs of moisture and the risk of mold forming, Dana knew professional help was needed to properly address the damage and prevent further issues.
PDQ Restoration arrived at the Kinnelon property and began a full inspection of the kitchen. Moisture meters revealed that water had penetrated beneath the wood flooring and into the subfloor around the sink base. To prevent the spread of moisture and airborne particles, our team set up containment around the affected area using heavy-duty plastic sheeting and negative air machines. We carefully removed the toe kicks and accessed the damp sections without needing to tear out the entire floor, minimizing disruption while maximizing drying effectiveness.
We then installed industrial-grade air movers and dehumidifiers to reduce humidity and dry out the saturated wood and subfloor. The underside of the sink cabinet was treated with antimicrobial agents to sanitize the area and stop mold from developing in the damp, enclosed space. Throughout the process, we performed daily moisture checks to ensure the environment was drying effectively and safely. Dana appreciated the clean, controlled approach, especially with containment in place to keep her kitchen functional during the work.
Within a few days, Dana’s kitchen in Kinnelon, NJ, was fully dried, sanitized, and free from residual moisture. The hardwood floors were saved, and the risk of long-term damp damage was eliminated. Thanks to PDQ Restoration’s quick action and attention to detail, another Kinnelon homeowner was able to return to normal without facing a major renovation. When wood floors get wet from leaking sinks, Kinnelon residents can trust PDQ to dry, clean, and contain the issue with care.
