Job completed for Harris T. - Stanhope, NJ - Water Damage

Completion date: April 10, 2025

Location: Stanhope, NJ

Solutions provided:

Principal Harris contacted PDQ Restoration after heavy rains led to significant flooding through a side entrance of a school building in Stanhope, NJ. Water had pooled against the exterior door overnight, eventually seeping inside and spreading across the hallway and several adjacent classrooms. With the safety of students and staff at stake, school administrators needed immediate water extraction and drying services to prevent long-term damage and disruption to daily operations.

PDQ Restoration arrived promptly at the Stanhope school and began a thorough assessment of the affected areas. The water had not yet soaked deeply into building materials, which allowed us to use an in-place drying strategy. Our team quickly performed water extraction using high-powered vacuums and wands to remove standing water from vinyl flooring, carpets, and corners where moisture had collected. Moisture meters confirmed that while floors were wet, the subfloor and walls were not yet fully saturated, making it possible to avoid major demolition.

To speed up drying and control indoor humidity, we deployed commercial-grade air movers and dehumidifiers throughout the flooded zones. This equipment remained in place for several days, and our technicians monitored moisture levels daily to ensure complete drying. We also treated all wet areas with antimicrobial solutions to ensure the school remained safe, clean, and mold-free. Most importantly, this approach allowed the school to remain operational in unaffected sections, minimizing disruption for both students and staff.

By the end of the project, the Stanhope, NJ school was fully dried and restored, with no lingering moisture or damp areas left behind. Thanks to PDQ Restoration’s swift action and efficient in-place drying techniques, the school avoided costly structural repairs and was able to resume normal activities without delay. Stanhope schools and institutions can rely on PDQ for fast, professional water damage recovery that keeps learning environments safe and functional.
